HUMMEL H5
INTRODUCTION
The H5 was designed to fit larger pilots compared to the other designs. It was based on the Ultracruiser, but modified to have a roomier airframe. It commonly accommodates a pilot up to six foot tall and 200 pounds. It can fit someone up to 6'5'' at 300 pounds. The aircraft was designed by Terry Hallett and Morry Hummel in 2003, and first flew shortly after. The H5 is currently the biggest of the three Hummel aircraft by design. The H5 was designed to use a full Volkswagen. Contact us for information about engine suppliers.
The aircraft, like it's sister planes, is extremely maneuverable and efficient. Unlike it's sister plane, the Ultracruiser, it does not fall under Part 103 of the FAR (Federal Aviation Regulations). This means that the aircraft must be registered to the FAA, and comply with any airworthiness standards. This also means that the pilot in command must possess the appropriate licenses and medical certifications. The builder (you) must also complete 51% of the aircraft to comply with the FAA experimental light sport requirements.
The H5 can be designed with up to 21 gallons of fuel on board. With a cruise from anywhere between 100 - 130 mph, the H5 is the fastest kit-plane in the fleet.
The H5 can be purchased as plans-only, partial kit, or full parts-kit. Most parts are pre-cut, pre-drilled, and designed to make construction easy and streamlined for new and experienced builders. Become a builder today and buy now!

WHAT ARE PILOTS SAYING?
"I flew the Hummel H5 N465DM a few weeks ago and it was truly a pleasure! I currently own and fly a Hummel bird and having now flown an H5 I can say they are very similar. Although I love my Hummel bird, the H5 takes the characteristics they both have to a whole new level. The controls are light and easy yet not overly sensitive. It is docile and forgiving yet it’s full VW engine gives it that extra power to really pull it through the sky. With the quality kits that Hummel produces and the excellent support that they provide, I highly recommend this airplane to anyone considering a homebuilt."
